I'm still on for next Saturday. So far we've got Philip, Neil and me. Any more takers?

Hi All, Sorry if I have been a little quiet of late, I have had a few of life's hiccups to take care of. Now then, it looks like I can partake with you on Saturday 29th April. Is it still on, where and what time? Derek.

The where depends on whether (not weather Big grin ) people want to see the model. The Flying Standard downstairs is a bit hectic. The what time I'd prefer 10 am over 9 am but it's not a deal breaker.

The Castle was quieter when I went there but that wasn't a Saturday. I don't know what the upstairs at the Flying Standard is like. It needs a breakky expert like Philip to give us the benefit of his experience.

Hi all Wave Hi Helen. Thank you for such a title, but that's only because I am a regular breakfaster. I have experienced disappointments at most of the venues from time to time, even the Belgrade that served my friend up with a sausage that we think had spent three weeks on show with Punch & Judy. I'm at the Belgrade today for the convenience of Coventry shopping, but my favourites for a hearty breaky just now are all outside of Coventry - Nuneaton, Bedworth & Atherstone. Having a Coventry central venue is what most folks appreciate, our most regular is Wetherspoons, then Café Italia & Castle Grounds. I'm easy on anywhere. I suggested Café Italia when I did, simply because there are members who are not so fond of eating in pubs. So, are we saying this Saturday, around 9.30-10am. Somewhere central ---------...........--------- !!

Ok, 9:30 at the Castle Grounds unless someone objects. Little Park Street. A taster for you. After all that, It's looking like the History Centre might be shut, Angry Edited by member, 27th Apr 2017 4:08 pm

That looks like a very interesting model. It looks like something that could easily encourage students to take an interest. I use the term "students" loosely, so as to include anyone with a passion for local and social history. Good luck with your 'baby'.

Hi all Wave A small but cordial breaky meeting this morning, as we were all enthralled with Helen's "Coventry Model Project". A member & his wife joined us for the first time too. Brill! I cannot remember a meeting where there was so much real historical content discussed, much of which I am still piecing together. We were still there gone noon. It's easy to imagine that those of us that come to the breaky meets, are free of life's issues, but nothing could be further from the truth. Thank you to each who came, & a special thank to you Helen for driving all the way from Warrington. Wave

It was a fascinating session where everyone seemed to learn from everyone else. Helen's 'work in progress' is impressively well-researched and gives a great impression of what Coventry would have looked like in the mid-17th century.
