Sorry for the late post. But, many thanks to all who made this morning's forum brekky such a pleasure - and special thanks to PixRobin for the special treat! The quality of the food and the general friendliness at The Coundon is super, and it's become a great venue.

I didn't think to ask him how many others he had tested out before confirming this one! Happy

Morning all Wave Oh my Smile Lol The subject of sausages was mentioned in a private email to me recently. Firm, tasty & nicely seasoned. Now I realise that we cannot all meet in Shirley for the best sausages around (Out & About topic), besides, that is not Coventry, but would you like me to test out the Coundon for a Saturday morning meeting again? I hope that you realise the effort that goes into these breakfast tests. Worth passing a few pubs for, hey! Discussions could focus on whether Helen & Anne should be issued with a compulsory attendance order (subpoena) as well as Dreamtime along with our Australasia members. We could target those the other side of the pond too. Now, trying to introduce a bit of decorum to our forum (that rhymes) can some dates be suggested, as well as venues. For those who haven't yet attended a forum breaky, we kind of occupy the venue for most of the morning, which gives a margin of time for anyone venturing for the first time. I will test out the Coundon during this coming week, anyway. It's as near the centre, with good parking. The staff make us feel welcome. A very short bus-ride away from the city centre, buses 5 & 7 stop at the pub. The Coundon

Oh my goodness Philip. Mushroom omelette £3.99 - how better could that be. The Coundon was my husband's old watering hole before we met up at the Casino on Saturday nights in 1957-61. Great nights, great years and a great life. The menu has improved 100% since those days. At £3.99 I could have chips with that. Now don't you go and over endulge Philip with all this testing!! Roll eyes Having said that I am a glutton for mushes. Edited by member, 1st Sep 2018 4:08 pm

Steve and I are free on 15th September. But will see which Saturday gets most responses before committing.

I'd love to come but I've had a bit of a rebellion this summer and I'm not allowed out until I've done my chores. Sad My enthusiasm and IQ diminishes with temperature and I've been as thick as two short planks until recently and about as mobile. I do need to visit, if only to try and work out a few measurements (particularly St John's tower and roof height). I want to look at what might have come in from the city architects department and an area I'm not sure that I've explored properly is the slum clearance documentation. I also want to look up the Broadgate excavation stuff. I might have to rent a flat Lol

Hi Helen, Wave Do you have a matron like mine, hey? I did enjoy our romp around Coventry together when you last came, but don't tell anyone. I have to do my chores too, then clear off out before 9.30am, or else she puts my board up. "Not having you under my feet all day" she says, "Now that I am retired". I know the trick of coming home earlier than permitted, I bring home a pack of boiled ham. Best wishes to you Helen. Wave

Any Saturday from the 15th onwards would be fine with me. And The Coundon has served us well for two great visits so far - I'd be glad to go again. Thumbs up

Philip "I bring home a pack of boiled ham." I can be mollified in the same way. LOL. Your Pam is obviously a wise wonderful person. The chores are big ones and can't be done in a morning. There's grouting the kitchen floor; finish painting the garden swing; cut back the neighbours' hedge on one side of my plot and the Virginia Creeper on the other before they meet in the middle of my living room; get someone in to fix the slow refill on the loo; and then there's....... Not to mention that I have an entire city to build! It was really nice having a chat and I appreciated the company when I went to photograph the footings for the old cathedral. It would have been a bit scary on my own. Smile I'm a bit of a cowardy custard.
