Yep, Snowdon railway. With some magnification Snowdon can be read on nameplate. Also the rack can be seen centre of track for the pinion drive.
Just old and knackered

Hi Morgana, I thought it was Alvecote Priory but looking at the images it is all wrong. Fortunately there is a picture of St. Mary's Abbey in Kenilworth which looks like it could be the right place. I would never have guessed it. Regards. Roger

You're right , Roger, it's the gateway of St Mary's Abbey - clever you. Do you know what used to be given at this gate. Clue - reminds me of what's happening in today's society. Not much changes 😞 Edited by member, 13th Jan 2015 6:10 pm

Yes Pixrobin, at this gate is where handouts of food were given to the poor.

On 6th Apr 2013 8:22pm, InnisRoad said: I've had a look at Evesham. I worked in Evesham for several years and it does not seem right. I have a recollection of this location in Coventry, but can't remember where. It looks like a bomb site after the war and the building at the far end of the yard is part of a row of buildings. Also, the trees appear to be formal street trees. From the shadows, we are looking west(ish), possibly from the rear of premises in Union Street, but who knows?
Hi InnisRoad. This picture reminds me of an old pub/hotel I was taken to in Lower Ford Street in Coventry. The date was in the late 50's & the car park which was on the side looks very similar. Could this be the location in Coventry you were thinking of, even though it may be not the one in the photograph.
