Whilst taking my camera for a walk in the sun in Buckinghamshire on Sunday morning, I was passed by this gentleman, on his way to London - no, it's not Dick Whittington (no cat, see!) but a competitor in the 14th Annual Grand Union Canal 145 mile Race. The GUCR is run from the centre of Birmingham to the centre of London along the Grand Union Canal and competitors are required to complete the distance within the time limit of 45 hours. Oh my I saw a handful of other competitors, none of whom looked capable of finishing the course! (Canal walk photos)

Thank you, Dreamtime - it was very enjoyable, particularly the first 20 minutes when I could hear a cuckoo across the reservoirs Thumbs up

MR. Good pictures. What wouldn't I give to be in that race. Alas, no more.

I was walking along the Oxford Canal at the weekend when I came upon this old sign on a bridge a few miles south of Braunston (apologies for the poor framing but I couldn't see anything through the viewfinder due to the sun) Quite surprised it's not been taken for scrap or a souvenir - although it would take some shifting!

As before, when I'm away, there's always something that reminds me of my friend NormK Cheers This year, from Scotland . . . .

There's more to the Isle of Wight than post boxes Wink In Bembridge is one of (it is thought) only five remaining examples of a K1 Telephone Kiosk. This is a Type 234 introduced in 1921-22. (I have seen one at Crich Tramway Village)

OK! For the sake of "balance", this is the 2017 public payphone from New World Payphones - they call it "The Kiosk" as its design is based on the old red telephone box Thumbs up This one is in Southsea

Sadly they're proudly stating that they are removing proper phone boxes. Sad
