He formed this group and named it "Ramona" while living in Coventry and working at a car factory. It is thought that he did some tune transposing for Matt Monro and Eartha Kitt, but I have not verified that. I am anxious to find out where the group performed, names of the members of the group, and just what music numbers they played besides "Ramona", George's favourite song. I never met this cousin, and know so little of him, any information about the group pictured would be greatly appreciated. Thanks be for any help.
(Mr.) Lynn Ransom Burton, USA, age 88. (Godiva was my 27th great-grandmother).

I have looked in a 2004 Coventry music book called "Godiva Rocks" by Pete Chambers, and he, with all his vast knowledge of Coventry based music, didn't list that band, unfortunately. Perhaps with help from some forum members he will be able to do so in any future editions?
The Godiva family link is an extraordinary thing though, and obviously something to be extremely proud of. I happen to know of someone else who is also linked back to that Coventry icon, so you have a (very) distant cousin.... probably twenty-something times removed!!! ![]() |
