Before my time but seems to have played a big part in the Coventry music scene in the 1960's. The Sorrows at Coventry Music Museum

Nigel Lomas, the guy with glasses centre right, still lives local I believe. Last time I saw the Sorrows (Longford Engine about 18 months ago) Don Farndon (of "Indian reservation" fame) was with them.

Don lived on Bennetts Road South, just opposite my parents house at the time of Indian Reservation. I remember he had a rather nice little motor.

'Indian Reservation' was Don Fardon's big hit. It reached No.3 in the UK charts in late 1970. His only other UK chart entry was 'Belfast Boy', a song about George Best, which reached No.32 earlier the same year. Don Fardon's real name, incidentally, was Donald Maughn.

"Indian Reservation" was his 1968 cover version of a song originaly written by John D Laudermilk and first recorded in 1959 by Marvin Rainwater. Thumbs up Correction, as MrD says above, it was indeed 1970 Cheers Edited by member, 26th Jan 2014 7:25 pm

Thankyou - I remember that song. I was still on Bennett's Road South, in my mind, and thought it must be a restaurant that I hadn't heard of!! Big grin Big grin

No problem, Tony. Your post did me a favour. We had some cheeses for supper tonight and for some reason it reminded me that there was an unfinished bottle of Blandy's 'Rainwater' Madeira in the pantry. Perfect combination.... Cheers

I believe I'm correct in saying that Don was the Publican of the 'Alhambra' in New Buildings when he made the record.
