I've never come across the expression "super feet" before but apparently it is the volume equivalent to a square foot with a thickness of one inch, as used in pricing timber.

Hi Anne, thank you for the feed back. I thought the reference to Noah Yardley Wright on page 503 could be of some help with family research. Sorry, it looks like 508, good thing I have the original ☺ Edited by member, 4th Jan 2018 2:24 pm

Yes I'm sure John is listed on the commemorative 'Watchmakers board' on Spon Street.

Anybody related to the W H Yardley at number 7 Warwick Lane? There's a picture of it before demolition in the Coventry Evening Telegraph 3rd June 1936 page 8. The Online version is almost invisible but it's tolerable from microfilm.

Hi Helen, he is on my tree but only very distantly. He actually died in 1916 but his wife Ann Maria died in 1936. I have found the picture in the Telegraph. As you say a bit obscure, thank you.

Now I am on my PC I can work out that William Henry Yardley would have been my great grandad William's cousin. Here is the picture from the newspaper, Neil. As Helen says it is not very clear. I wonder if she has a better copy. W H Yardley was living at 7 Warwick Lane in 1911. Edited by member, 7th Jun 2019 11:33 am

Does anyone remember a cycle shop on Paynes Lane somewhere between Oxford Street and the Far Gosford Street junction? I have only just found out about it as it was run by one of my dad's uncles, Ade Yardley. He was also very much in to motorbikes apparently and worked on the TT races as a mechanic. Thumbs up Heathite - that is brilliant! Thumbs up That is my granduncle Adrian and his cycle shop! I was with his son (my dad's cousin) last Sunday who only then told me about the shop. Can I ask what that is taken from? Letitia at No.49 is my great grandma Big grin I think she moved from there not long after that to Dillotford Avenue. Interestingly, earlier in the 1900's I know they also lived at No.28 which it appears would have been next to Uncle Adrian's shop as they had a little girl also called Letitia but who sadly died there aged only about 5 in 1909 - possibly why they wanted to move. Thanks again for the info. Post copied from topic Coventry Bicycle Shops on 2nd Jul 2019 11:57 am

You're very welcome Neil. The images are from a 1955 Cov directory. If I remember correctly I copied the book at the Birmingham library. Reason is, no fee needed there. There are some 'trees' on Ancestry for your family. Also George Newton Yardley got the Newton part from a German lady ancestor. I'll post more if you're interested Thumbs up
