And yet another new thread.
I've been doing some research into the so called Family Health Club Housing Society. It was a private initiative by the GP Kenneth Barlow. It ran from September 1944 up until the mid 1950s. The Club intended - but never actually succeeded - to build a whole neighbourhood in the surroundings of Brandon Wood. It was considered to be a follow-up on the London based Peckham Health Centre. Besides housing, the project embarked on organic farming, annual family health overhauls (as they called it) and various community activities.
I found lots of materials relating to the Club, but I'd be very grateful to hear from the forum on this. Does anyone have memories relating to the FHC? And the FHC issued a magazine called the Family Health Club Review. Maybe some of you came across some copies?!
Thanks!
