60103 "Flying Scotsman" will be passing through Coventry on Tuesday 13th June on a London-Oxford-Chester train. It is due to pass Coventry at 13:12 and head to Nuneaton where it's scheduled to stop for 15 minutes (timings). The return working is diesel hauled. Peter.

Flying Scotsman at Three Spires Junction. It looks like the Prologis branch hasn't been used for a while. Peter.

Hi Peter, Hi all Wave You are correct I am sure. I cannot remember when the branch was last used. It finished up with just the bottled water trains from France. Love your picture. I saw it go by at Longford, I was on the canal towpath. Thank you for your info on this as well as your picture. We look forward to your most reliable info on this subject. Cheers Thumbs up Cheers

I spent a very delightful hour watching Great British Railway Journeys last night on the TV with Mr. Portillo, I have no doubt the series may be dated to you members but after watching him walking round Coventry I became quite melancholy. Even showed some live footage of the blitz. A great programme. I shall be there with my nibbles watching and enjoying the trip next week too. Wave

That railway museum is odd. We visited it once during a heritage weekend with the kids and had an enjoyable few hours there. It's clearly run by enthusiasts, but it's hard to see it having much appeal to many people and I don't believe it opens very often. When I drove past it a few years ago I thought it was a junk yard!

I listened to a programme called "Train Tracks" on Radio 4 extra recently. It was about how the sounds of the railway, especially the days of steam, have inspired composers and songwriters. There was a quite moving piece by Flanders and Swann called "The Slow Train". The lyrics are packed with some of the quaintly named stations now sadly lost. Very nostalgic and evocative of the pre-Beeching days. The song can be accessed on YouTube accompanied with photographs of those stations and halts. Worth a look.
