I have no idea - my guess is that Prof found "Martin's" photo pairing on some other social media site. To be honest, as you all know, I really don't mind my photos being shared around if it helps other people to understand our history - and I know many of our own members are similarly generous sharing their pictures with us all..... but I wouldn't mind betting that Mr. Martin Hill didn't add any credit to say where he nicked those pictures from! Wink It might be worth re-stating at this point that we all need to be a bit careful when "sharing" photos from other websites, as not everyone is as understanding as we are when they see their own work displayed freely around the internet without permission. We have, in the past, had to remove several images - some after being requested by original owners - others because they were from copyrighted sites.

I have the feeling that MR did really mean it that way round. (I hope!) Wink

Bit late notice I know but I have started attending Wednesday nights at Fargo Village for 'Dub-Club.' Basically its a Customised Car show mainly featuring German Marques but open to anything interesting. Cars have to be pre-booked but it’s great to just turn up for a wander around, look at the cars and sample a tap in the Twisted Barrel Brewery! Cheers Becoming a really great evening out for free - 7pm till 10pm! Edited by member, 9th Oct 2019 4:30 pm

Just a quick shout out - as per my last comment 'Dub-Club' returns for 2020 tonight back at Fargo 7pm - 10pm if anyone is interested. All free - should be some interesting (mainly modified) cars to look at and the Twisted Barrel bar is open!

Does anybody remember hardware shop called N Gandy or Norman Gandy in Far Gosford St in the 1950s before it was demolished to make way for the new road?

Hi, I don't remember the hardware shop but here's a record of it from a 1955 Coventry directory. No 10 Far Gosford Street.

Another interesting arrival on FB - Thanks to Heathite Frank Harvey (no not the HiFi Shop!) Pork Pies/Bakers were at 74a Far Gosford Street - although that looks like Court 9 to the left which I cannot place on FGS maps?

Court 9 was to the left of Cobwebs. It did have some kind of barrier with a narrower opening so... Although the detailing on the older photo is very different.

For reference, Far Gosford Street 1926 with courts. Hi, here's a couple more images, one showing courts 9 & 10 in 1937 and the other showing the Mookow milk bar, a possible reference for location. Edited by member, 19th May 2020 8:46 am

58-60 Far Gosford Street Top: 20 Dec 2008 Bottom: 4 Jun 2013 No 58 is a two storey building with an odd monopitch roof with the gable end facing the street. It represents the surviving street-facing portion of what was originally a row of 14 Court dwellings known as Victoria Place and later Court No 9. During restoration, large stone blocks were discovered in the boundary wall with No 59. It is likely that these came from the dismantled town wall and are from an earlier building on the site. The stone has been retained in situ.

It could be either that spot or 74 and court 11. Both have gaps to the side that at some point might have been bricked up. Part way up the road there is a passage with the same arch and filled in top. Lots of the buildings have the brick/tile base to the windows.
