Hi all Wave I love our forum, which can be as big or small as it needs be for any subject associated with Coventry. No matter whether we live here, born here, visit here or just want to chat about here. There is little wrong with chatter, providing we are courteous & tell it as it is. BT have just announced a huge hike in prices, following from similar prices rises from other media communication providers, so some chat becomes more expensive. We may have to pay more for our landline rental & so on, but posting on our forum is as free as a bird.
I have started this thread, as a facility just for us to share whatever we like, that may not have a specific title, but you just want to share what you are up to or thinking about that is Coventry related. We can always move a conversation that develops into a more appropriate category if needed. Communication is important for our own wellbeing, as people who are lonely will testify, as will their carers. So, on this glorious sunny morning I will share my delight in nearly having a whole Sunday off from organ duty. The big return from holidays has me confined to playing for just one service this afternoon, so quite a relaxed affair, compared to last Sunday with over twelve hymns plus music. I enjoy moderating too on our forum. I don't mean, wearing a flat cap or a helmet either. I love reading the posts & trying to picture your delights in what you are sharing, as well as the sadder bits where there is concern. I am looking forward to Tony's weather outlook, although he might be saying that we need to make the most of today. Have a good day all Wave

Nice idea Philip, we should all make the most of today every day (if that makes sense). So . . . today we are back from a lovely week's holiday in Warwickshire in our caravan but we managed to have visits from our daughter, my brother and sister-in-law and my son's family on the way to their hols on the Isle of Wight. Today would have been my mum's 91st birthday. She passed away in November and although she became very cussed in her last years she was our mum. Today my daughter has got up very early to drive over from Leamington to take pictures in Coventry with a colleague from work and some people from his photography class so perhaps I will have some nice pictures to put on here. And today I have to go and put some virus software on my fairly new computer that had to go to the doctors while I was away as it decided to blow a wobbly. The shop man said it was malware so I have decided to pay for some software rather than rely on Microsoft free stuff. So that is my today, all have a good one Wave Thumbs up Cheers Smile

I've been cooking my first roast dinner for months. So I'm having a traditional Sunday even though I live on my own. It's 12th birthday celebrations for my carer's eldest daughter. She seems very happy with the new camera I bought her. Beth and her friends were out taking pictures at 9.30am over in the hills above Rossendale: rugged country but plenty to aim her camera at. Is that your family crest Philip. I believe it is that of the Gregory family on the railway bridge at Coat of Arms Bridge Road. Did you know that if they'd built the bridge only 30 yards further south it would have been on Lord Leigh's land?

Hi all Wave Arr! Sunday lunch, as the wisps from Pam's cooking are filling my nostrils as I read your post Pixrobin. A boiled ham joint is on the go here. No, I did not know the significance of the bridge position to that extent, but I did do some War Memorial Park research a while back, which I will have to have another look at. It doesn't matter where we live, we can always come together on our forum with our experiences. That is kind to treat your carers' daughter to a new camera. Bril! Happy

I have just returned from London where I was looking after my 6 year old grandaughters (twins). Whilst I was there the tooth fairy paid a visit to one of them and left £2!! It appears that this is the going rate in London. Is it the same in Coventry? I'm not sure but I think that my children got 20p or it may have been 50p. I can't remember the fairy ever visiting me Sad although the sum of 6d comes to mind. Oh my

You asked, Philip! I'm sitting on York Station with the present Mrs Red, glowing with pride at the reports of Bees taking 7 points from their last two meetings and looking to be heading for the play-offs Let us hear the Brandon roar! Cheers

Hi Philip, what a wonderful new topic which seems to be a hit already with the members! Thumbs up How many times do we think of the little things that cross our mind on a daily basis which have seemed a little too trivial to put on the forum, but now we can. Our spring is just around the corner and we have been enjoying some lovely sunny days to the extent that us veggie gardeners' thoughts are turning to compost heaps and smelly chook manure! GillyM just wants to see the results, not how I get it.

Hi all Wave Bad planning on my part means that instead of being out in the sunshine, I am on wait for the parcel delivery duty today, whilst Pam & her sister go fancy shopping as I call it. At least I am being treated to a breaky before she goes. It smells wonderful (the breaky, I mean). Wave With so much gloom & doom in the news, sometimes the simple pleasures of life become gems in themselves. Such bad news about Tesco only making £2.4bn profit, heaven help us, as well as the sorry state of the Middle East. The thing is, in the last fifteen hundred years, when has there not been bad news about or from the Middle East? Eastern Europe has always been a flash point throughout history, so not a lot new there either. What is new, is the speed at which the news travels, along with the propaganda, with whatever the intension. Back to parcel waiting, now there is a new thing. An idea has emerged (not mine I may add) of delivering parcels using drones or pilotless aeroplanes. I must get my runway cleared. Have a good day all Cheers

Hi all Wave Another misty, but now sunny morning to aid us on our way today. I am chuffed to bits with my soldering kit parcel which has arrived. This lot for £11. I checked all of our local suppliers before ordering from a gold star supplier on eBay as a price difference of over £5 saving which included free postage. I notice that Royal Mail in Coventry are starting a parcels collection on Sundays from their distribution depot. Royal mail need to grab the nettle on this, or they may well find that they lose parcel post like they have letters. I love a trader that delights to please, in the course of making their living. As I had paid the eBay trader without delay, he included the deluxe magnifier, instead of the single stem version, in my parcel along with a compliment slip explaining his gratitude. For stuff like this, I do miss our old hardware stores. My local was Mr Decani, where if you wanted three screws, two washers & a half pint beer glass, that is what you could have. Paraffin was only sold in gallons though! Have a good day all. Wave
