I don't normally post obituaries but I thought I might record the death of someone most of us will never have heard about but most of us will have cause to thank. The pioneering computer scientist whose accomplishments included inventing the cut, copy and paste commands for computers has died. Bronx-born Lawrence 'Larry' Tesler died this week at the age of 74. After Ctrl Z, Ctrl C and Ctrl V are my most favourite commands.
On 20th Feb 2020 11:23am, Annewiggy said: You don’t think about people inventing these things. I would be lost without copy and paste!
On 20th Feb 2020 11:39am, NeilsYard said: Agreed Anne/Helen. Personally I like Ctrl F to search but then again I do like to search for things! I used to work with a Hungarian lady named Edit - we always called her PF4 (for those who know an IT joke!)
On 20th Feb 2020 2:53pm, Helen F said: I don't remember PF4 but I get the gist. Increasingly software is removing text menus and the old styles. Ctrl F is becoming more important as the menu option isn't there or is too hard to find. Naturally my most regular search is 'Coventry'.
