Dutchman, The Marks and Spencer location is more imposing as they are on the corner, whilst BHS had the "phone shop" on the corner so BHS had less of a presence (was the "phone shop" original or a later addition?). Given the changes to the City Centre I think presence, floor area and rent would have been more important than keeping the exact location. The original site would have been compulsorily purchased for the re-development. Peter.

The 'phone shop' would be a relatively new 'of the era' occupation. I remember it like this - it was a shoe shop on that corner for ages. Edited by member, 27th Nov 2016 3:17 am
