I remember a Peeping Tom bust on a shop wall near the bottom of Bishop Street. That would be throughout the 1950s. The No.16 Keresley bus and the No.2 Radford bus stopped there so I always looked forward to seeing it.

Yes Anne, you've got the right building. Number 48 on the east side of the road. It think that there's a copy in the library pics that shows it very well, although the gable doesn't look the same. I have a copy of a painting of the same building and it has the same style and a little 'man' leaning out.

I've just found this photograph of Peeping Tom which matches post 1 and post 2 particularly well. I have no idea of the location but I believe the photograph was taken pre 1917. PS Just found out it was the King's Head Hotel, Smithford Street. Edited by member, 6th Dec 2017 5:34 pm

We were down in Coventry over the last 5 days and one of the places we visited was the Rainbow Inn - they say it's the oldest inn in Coventry, I'm only putting this on as it said the bust that's in one of the rooms is a long lost head of Peeping Tom - but I would think everyone on here will know about it

Well I certainly didn't Dougie! Will have to call in at the Rainbow on my next visit to Coventry. Wonder if it is like the one looking towards Broadgate from the covered way to the left of the Puppet Clock which I believe came from the former pub at the bottom corner of Hertford St/Barracks market entrance? That chappie wasn't from the King's Head but he did spend time looking out of a window in Bishop Street.

Evening all, I was wondering just how many Peeping Toms there are to be seen out and about.

Question

Yes, Anne, I remember that one. Does anyone know if it survives, left of the puppet clock? Midland Red (post 9) has a photo but I can't upload it. Edited by member, 27th Jul 2018 5:15 pm

Earlsdon Kid, Surely this was at the King's Head originally? Edited by member, 27th Jul 2018 4:19 pm

My Post 22 I had no idea re the Bishop Street one Dreamtime. I remember best the one at the bottom of Hertford St, until the Leofric had the Tom now in Cathedral Lanes, and I went into the Leofric especially to see it. Seen it since in its new home too. Edited by member, 27th Jul 2018 8:26 pm
