Coventry had a loco shed, located between the Leamington & Rugby line, south out of Coventry. It was best viewed from the upper deck of the No22 going up Quinton Rd. It was a very low priority shed & after about 1958 its worth more declined, so much so that on a Friday, Nuneaton shed despatched at least two locos for Coventry to use as spare. The Friday evening pigeon special from Foleshill station was one of the trains worked by these locos. As regular as clock work, these loaned locos travelled back to Nuneaton late on the Sunday evening. Cycling home from Pam's ( my bird then) home in Bedworth, I waited with the signalman at Bedlam lane crossing gates for them to pass by, 10.45pm most Sunday evenings. On our railway here, we like to have a visiting loco. A Manor has turned up today. Never ever saw a Manor at Bedlam Lane, two black fives & brake van were normal. I need cheering up today, so a Manor it is. That Backmann loco is Twenty years old, I have a black manor that is nearly Thirty years old, all in good running order. I wonder what the visiting loco will be next weekend, another manor, a 43xx class, who knows? A V2! B1! Hall!
