They have developed a building maker tool so users can create and add the models themselves. That's why a lot of the current 3D imagery you can see for places like Coventry are Uni/Student buildings! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

So that I do not get totally left behind with all this modern technology I have been making use of the 3D effects on Google. and it is amazing what it comes up with all over the world so it will be great to see dear old Coventry in there with the rest of them. Mind you I am still struggling with some 'things' on this 'ere beast but I know I will click on the right keys eventually! ![]() ![]() |

BTW 3D imagery works better within Google Earth as opposed to within Streetview/maps.
Not working for me in at all in my Google Earth, NeilsYard? ![]() On 27th Sep 2012 12:27am, NeilsYard said:
Might have a go myself sometime at adding a building or two in Cov. Wouldn't it be fantastic if someone/somewhere was able to 3D map on old Coventry city centre we could 'view through'
Even better if we could go back in time on Google Earth and see Coventry as it was, say, fifty years ago!

Use the right hand side slider to zoom in and click on the top 'compass' to get a more eye level view of the 3D imagery.

I have done a few of the city centre buildings, like the cathedrals and HT as part of bigger plans, but as I've got an old computer I don't bother with the texturing as it takes up too much memory, just using the bog standard ones available on SketchUp. |

I'm just looking for a way to overlay Old Maps with the current layout like Robs done ![]() |
