The map from 1887 shows the workhouse next to the original tram depot. It also shows Lythalls Lane as Foleshill Hall Lane and Old Church Road as Chapel Lane.

This site also became the Council Offices for Foleshill Urban District Council [perhaps within the Workhouse?] and was passed to Coventry Corporation when Foleshill became part of the city and ceased to exist in 1931. This site subsequently accommodated the Lythalls Lane Industrial Estate, the Fire Station, Housing Club and the Building Services Depot. The Tram Depot marked on the map was used as their Joinery Workshop until recent times and has not long been demolished. Tram lines could be seen in the yard and in the Workshop. |

I was a plant fitter there for a few months until I was offered a much better job at Draftex on the corner of Wolfe Rd and Torrington Ave. Les |

Have sampled two of their beers, Dolomite IPA and Propshaft Job, lovely.
