I can't recall if I've added this one before - 1987 Footage - so posting again just to be sure(!) Not exactly a fantastically well filmed piece but interesting footage at the start of what was around at the bottom of Far Gosford Street at the time - which happened to be the day we won the Cup in '87

Thanks Neil, We remember that day well and enjoyed all the hype even living here. Whilst I was viewing that footage, I went into 'Coventry: Then and Now (50 photos)'. I cannot believe that is the Coventry I knew, even after seeing so many of the members' wonderful contributions. It's hard to grasp the changes that have been made over the years, but expected naturally, despite a few eyesores (old and new) but then every city has those. Wave

Yes Dreamtime, it's well publicised (to me especially!) of the changes made (sadly) by the war but I have to say even in the last 30 years there has been some huge changes in the city centre. Edited by member, 7th Feb 2018 3:51 am

Hi Neil, having watched the linked film, I ended up watching more 'youtube' films associated with the Cup Final. Brought back a lot of memories. I lived in Warwick at the time and travelled into the city both on the Saturday night and Sunday. ps I hope the filmmaker in your link cleared up the dogmess his pet had made in Gosford Green Park! Big grin

Just watched on the Talking Picture Show a film called "A City Reborn". It turned out to be Coventry. Made in 1945 it was about the proposed plans for rebuilding cities, it was a docu-drama - propaganda really and I thought pretty ugh! but there were one or two shots of ruined Cathedral etc. Was pretty well into pre-fabs as the instant solution - "Homes for the people" etc. It can also be seen on YouTube. Sorry if it`s been mentioned on here before, but I did try to find it. Also noticed the Rialto is entertaining again while on the net.

Roger Turner mentioned 'leafy Leamington.' There was a music score and words of a song, "The Ladies of Leamington", so while my school pal in Coventry played the piano I sang the song when his mother had a visitor for tea. Not a likely entertainment today! Edited by member, 30th Jun 2018 9:01 pm

Midland Red (post 142) Number 7 Allesley or Outer Circle (#?) bus went from Gosford Green, via Paynes Lane, Eagle Street and eventually round to Barker Butts Lane/ Moseley Avenue area. We used the Outer Circle bus from Gosford Green to visit my grandparents off Holyhead Road, which avoided a change of bus at bottom of Holyhead Road. I think it must have gone via Cash's Lane. 1902 film along Greyfriars Green/Warwick Road towards the station, perhaps your Coventry ancestor was on the march! Fantastic! Edited by member, 21st Jul 2018 2:24 pm
