Whilst looking at Rob's excellent Street Views section Queens Road - is it me or has the Church Tower in today's view sunk/had its head chopped off?!?

Yes - about 30 years ago. I think they had repair problems and decided the best way to deal with them was to chop the top off.

The house on the corner of Queen Victoria Road was that of Dr. Rollason, well known in the 50's in Coventry. He was a consultant gynaecologist but also had his GP surgery there. His receptionist was a very smart lady in a white coat, Miss McDonald. I was sometimes in the waiting room (front room of house where I saw copies of Punch magazine with that fascinating cover) with my grandmother. Edited by member, 13th Oct 2018 9:44 pm
