Yep, Snowdon railway. With some magnification Snowdon can be read on nameplate. Also the rack can be seen centre of track for the pinion drive.

Hi Morgana, I thought it was Alvecote Priory but looking at the images it is all wrong. Fortunately there is a picture of St. Mary's Abbey in Kenilworth which looks like it could be the right place. I would never have guessed it. Regards. Roger

You're right , Roger, it's the gateway of St Mary's Abbey - clever you. Do you know what used to be given at this gate. Clue - reminds me of what's happening in today's society. Not much changes 😞
