Hi all Wave It was lovely start to a Saturday, meeting for our forum breakfast. A very serious time discussing the most important issues such as eggs & bacon, porridge with either strawberries or bananas, or a sausage batch. Equally serious though, it was a very sweet time together.

Hi all Wave It's ages since we met for a forum breaky. I wondered if, without us all getting too excited, if someone would like to suggest a breakfast venue. We have up to now, met either at Wetherspoons or Café Italia, but whilst our backs have been turned, a dive into the breakfast market is being made by our city sizzler pubs. Most now opening up at 9am so as to specifically serve breakfasts. I do not pretend that these venues match Harrods, but Pam & I often enjoy very reasonably priced food. There are twelve sizzler pubs within our city. Many can be reached from our Circle bus route No 360. The Sizzler pubs which I have visited regularly & enjoy are the Coundon, The Wallace, & The Brooklands. This could be fun. At least there is no problem of car parking. I have included the telephone No of each Sizzler, so we can be sure that breaky is being served. http://www.sizzlingpubs.co.uk/offer/breakfast/ The following Sizzling Pubs The Coundon Hotel in Coundon - Barkers Butts Lane, Coventry, CV6 1DT Tel: 024 7660 1489 The Maudslay in Coventry - 190 Allesley Old Road, Coventry, CV5 8GJ Tel: 024 7671 3076 The Brooklands in Coundon - Kingsbury Road, Coventry, CV6 1PJ Tel: 024 7659 8018 The Phantom Coach in Canley - Fletchamstead Highway, Coventry, CV4 7BA Tel: 024 7671 3841 The Wallace in Keresley Keresley Road, Coventry, CV6 2JF Tel: 024 7633 5627 The Nugget in Keresley - Coundon Green, Coventry, CV6 2AL Tel: 024 7633 4594 The Bull's Head in Stoke -Binley Road, Coventry, CV3 1HB Tel: 024 7645 4883 The Newlands in Tile Hill - Tile Hill Lane, Coventry, CV4 9DJ Tel: 024 7647 3049 The Vale in Eastern Green Nod Rise, Coventry, CV5 7HT Tel: 024 7669 4951 The Devonshire Arms in Wyken Sewall Highway, Coventry, CV2 3NX Tel: 024 7665 9708 The Painted Lady in Wyken - Longfellow Road, Coventry, CV2 5HN Tel: 024 7645 9134 The Bell Inn in Tile Hill - Station Avenue, Tile Hill, Coventry, CV4 9HS Tel: 024 7647 0852 This is only a suggestion. Anyway, must go as Pam is doing a Saturday morning shift, whilst I pop out for breaky.

Hi all Wave My bacon was underneath my toast. As you would expect, nothing like the proof of the pudding to justify. I tell you, this was ace this morning. That lot, including as much fresh tea or coffee, was £3.49. It is not just the price. If our forum sausage expert had been with me, he would have given six stars for the sausage. There is ample space here at the Wallace where I was this morning. If we are game for a try, for a start off, I would recommend the Wallace, not just because I am fond of Carla, who was cooking the breakfasts this morning, but because of the ease of access for anyone. Ample car-park, the No 16 direct bus from & to town as well as the No 5, & the 360 circle bus. A couple in this morning, came from Corley, had breakfast, left their car in the car park, whilst popping into town on bus. That is how good this is. I only say what I taste & see.

Hi all, I went to the Phantom Coach (Canley) for breakfast yesterday. My companion (not a forum member) and I chose the Sizzler. Neither of us needed another meal until this morning. It was served piping hot and was very tasty. I'm not so sure about the Phantom Coach though - needs some TLC in my opinion. But, I can never remember a time in the past when it didn't. Perhaps I'm not accustomed to going in pubs in Coventry since my return.

Hi Pixrobin & thank you for your post Wave Regards the Sizzler breakfasts at less than £3.50, including fresh tea or coffee, as much as you like, we rest our case. Cheers Sizzling Pubs - Breakfast ps The Phantom Coach has been a good source of grub for me, in between funeral duties at the crem.

Hi all, I have been & inspected the Wallace today & can confirm that there is an easy ramp access that even avoids the front door step. Cheers Access

Hi all, Hi Rob Wave Entering the pub via the main entrance, the bar area is to the left, the dining area is to the right. There are all sizes of tables, as well as a party snug area. I will be there very prompt. For those who are driving, there are two driving entrances to the pub, one off the Keresley Rd & one off Norman Place Rd. The car park is on the right hand side of the pub, so entering off the Keresley Rd is the most direct. I shall arrive via the 360 circle bus. The No 16 & 16a offer the most direct service from the city centre, with the No 5 as an alternative that travels via Coundon. Google Map Google picture The picture is taken from the traffic island, facing the pub, with the main car-park to the right, off the Keresley Rd. Close-up Picture showing entrance & wheelchair ramp ps. The pub manager knows that we are coming.

Oh yeah, Oh yeah I have received notification from our Coventry South correspondent, about the food quality served at the Castle Grounds in the centre of Coventry. I have been today for a breakfast test & am delighted. The quality is as good as the Sizzlers & better on price. I will try a lunch very soon. Thumbs up Cheers This looks good

Hi Tony, hi all Wave As you would expect from your forum devoted to duty team (what a floss), I returned this morning for a bacon butty & coffee for £3.98 for two of us, excellent, to look at disabled & wheelchair access & it is ace, with a lift provided to the separate floors. Thumbs up Wave Cheers The picture below shows the unhindered access to the entrance bar & ground level tables. My friend & I sat here, very nice.
