When we visited St. Mary Magdelene during Heritage Weekend a couple of years ago we were shown some original Norman slit windows in the chancel, which apparently date from around 1100, and the font is c1200. Apart from fragments of foundations beneath ground level at the Priory I can't even think of anything in the ancient town centre which is of Norman age. |
