Both my mum and dad had been married previously and remarried in 1941. While I know a lot about my dad's previous marriage I know little of my mother's. They married at St John's church in Fleet Street in October 1922. Both Albert F Lines and Minnie Boneham gave their address as Crow Lane (off Spon Street) at their marriage in October 1922. I can trace backwards OK. I can even trace forwards after my mum ran off with the insurance man (about 1934) ![]() |

Do you have any idea of Albert F Lines' date of birth? Between 1922 and 1969 there were at least three Albert F Lines who died in England or Wales -
From FreeBMD -
1 Death registered in 4th quarter of 1945 in Hatfield aged 77 - therefore born c 1878
2 Death registered in 2nd quarter of 1951 in Reading aged 61 - therefore born c 1890
3 Albert Francis Lines - death registered in 2nd quarter of 1969 in Canterbury. Date of birth 30th April 1903.
If it was a youthful marriage (he aged c 19), the third would seem most likely, if he was about 32 at his marriage, then the second would fit better. The earliest would put him at about 44 at the date of marriage.
It may, of course, be none of these three that you are looking for.
Did Minnie remarry as Minnie Lines or Minnie Boneham? I can't find anyone married with either name in 1941. |

But, what I am really interested in is her life with Albert F Lines in Coventry - from 1922 to early 1930s. Of course she wouldn't be shown on electoral registers until 1928 when all women got the vote.
Albert Lines was born around 1897 - either in Warwick or Nether Whitacre. |

The nearest were an Albert Lines registered in the 1st Quarter of 1897 in Aston and an Albert Edward B Lines registered in the 2nd Quarter of 1898 in Rugby.
What were your sources for the information? |

In which case, does it say what the father's name and profession were? There is an Albert F Lines born in 1890 in Banbury whose father, George, worked for the railways as did this particular Albert F(rederick). They were living in Crewe, however, in the 1901 and 1911 censuses.

There is a death registered in Coventry in 1979 Mar 1/4 of Albert Frederick Lines, born 25 Oct 1897
In 1897 Dec 1/4 there is a birth registered in the Meriden Reg Dist - which covered Nether Whitacre - of Frederick Albert Lines
As it is not uncommon for Christian names to become reversed during a lifetime, I suspect these may be one and the same person
I hope it may help you! |

I last did any real work on my family history a couple of years ago and I think I got fed up after installing a newer version of Family Tree Maker. ![]() |

I managed to cover the 1934 - 39 period (on my last visit to Coventry) when my mother was living with the insurance man. The unusual - for Coventry - of his Stanger surname made that reasonably easy though time consuming. The Lines surname is much more common in Coventry during the early 20th century - and Rugby/Newbold was full of them. It is the addresses I am trying to find so it would be a tedious search.
Really it was just an off-chance as I had found the London electoral rolls on Ancestry and was able to find the addresses for my father during his first marriage. Thank you all for your interest. |

(I made the move from Accrington to Coventry in between the last post on this thread and now.) The certificate was another piece of the jigsaw and contained a couple of bits of info I hadn't had before - and now have another lead to follow. Without the help from members here I'd have been stuck. Thank you. |

They had one child, Albert H Lines, b 1st qtr 1917 (Coventry 6d 1294) - he probably married Olive M Boult in 1946 |

On July 30th in the Days Lane and East Street (rent books, directories) thread Heathite posted at my request an image of Coronation Road's inhabitants in the mid-1930s and there is an Albert F. Lines living at number 7. I asked my mum about him (she moved there in 1948) and she remembers him, his appearance, and his wife Mary. I don't remember him myself but his name sounded familiar. |
