Vulcan bomber

As celebration of the Cold War flights the Vulcan is flying around various RAF stations past and present on Thursday 25th Sept, it will be flying over Gaydon approx 15.05pm, So get down there if you want to take piccies of a true icon of the skies

Thanks for that information Stevie g. It just so happens that we are caravanning at Bishops Itchington next week so we have a good chance of seeing it. The Vulcan is a lovely plane to see flying. There is also a lecture at Gaydon on Saturday 27th about the history of the airfield and a tour including the control tower.

Hi Stevie - ironic timing.................... I was up inside XL360 just the other week! I see the Gaydon museum are putting on a dedicated viewing area........ Where are you going to watch?

The Vulcan always was (and still is) my favourite aeroplane, probably because I grew up about three miles down the hill from RAF Waddington and saw them on a daily basis. The planes would take off in out direction from the top of the hill and when they flew over our house they were still so big you felt you reach up and touch them. Although they were very noisy nobody ever complained about them and we got to see them and many other planes at close quarters at the annual air show.

There is nothing quite like the Vulcan 'howl' to send shivers down your spine. If you hear it, you'll certainly know about it. Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

I had every good intention of trying to get to this but as I'm currently on nights I could not get up in time and get over to Gaydon. Did you see (hear!) it Anne? BTW XL360 - the Midland Air Museum Vulcan is one of the only ones to have been give a name

The "Tin Triangle"! It will be a shame when the only airworthy example is grounded. I wonder how many know that many Vulcans were serviced and modified by Hawker Siddeley (BAe) at Bitteswell, just outside Lutterworth?

Not very good pictures, but we enjoyed seeing the Vulcan so will share what we saw. Flying in over Bishops Itchington Church, then a brief display over Gaydon and fling off towards what I think must have been an impromptu display over Wellsbourne judging by the other excellent pictures posted.
