I didn't like to say that, MR but Cathedral Lanes never did appeal to me. Roll eyes

If anyone is interested… Mark Osborne has finally been able to put back on his ‘this is then’ exhibition following delays with Covid - if you fancy it Rob?!

Just taken this one that's currently on The Specials website. It’s another from the set on the roof of The Gaumont/Ellen Terry Building, this time looking west with the Graham Sutherland Building and Morris Works in the background.

BTW great night on Saturday watching The Specials at The Coventry Building Society Arena. Was surprised by how well attended it was given there are only Terry, Horace and Lynval as originals left playing (plus Lynval's son now plays with them as well). Terry was his usual cheerful self - even stated he was considering getting a timeshare in Hillfields, reflecting on his love for his hometown!

Thanks for the reminder Neil Cheers Watching the programme made me realise how partisan our musical tastes can be. My first place of employment was across the road (on East Street) from the Binley Oak, '74 to '80, and the 2Tone phenomenon just didn't interest me at all. My youngest brother, however, was a big fan of the Specials. I remember passing Terry Hall in town on more than one occasion and I think his 'Home' album is really good.

I loved it, especially being an Earlsdoner. I had the Harrington, Bergundy Sta-press and all the badges. I liked Terry's earlier punk band "Squad" too, although he never actually recorded with them IIRC. I always thought he was a miserable so ‘n’ so, however only recently read about a terrible incident that occurred to him during his youth, so it’s no wonder he never appeared happy.
