According to my birth certificate I was born in 1947 at 7 Park Road, Coventry.
I see that a Victorian residence at that address was demolished and it is now a development site.
Was it ever used as a maternity hospital or nursing home?
I would appreciate it if anyone has any information.

Sorry this response is so long after your post. I too was born at 7 Park Road, in 1951. I have just found my Baby Book, which says I was born at The Hollies nursing home, with Dr Eric Kenderdine in attendance. We later lived opposite Dr Kenderdine in Earlsdon Avenue. So hope this info is useful to you.
Best wishes

I presume parents had to pay to have their babies delivered in these nursing homes, or were they funded by the NHS? Most babies would have been born at home in the 1940s and 50s unless there were complications. |
