I have done a little investigation and found that the General Manager was a "Claude Holbrook" 1886-1979. He joined the company in 1919, but there is no record of the factory in the history of Triumph as I have found. I also wonder if the name was used for the area or is it just a coincidence."
Yet another snip of history waiting to be uncovered. ![]() Always looking forward to looking at the past. |

It is the only factory remaining from the firm's days as an independent manufacturer, and was used to produce cars from 1935 until 1939 when the firm passed into receivership."
According to old maps it was previously the Gloria Cycle Works.

From what I can work out there are hardly any of the buildings in that image left. Probably just a little bit in Lower Ford Street. ![]() |

Inside was a concrete staircase which led up to the roof. As a small child I would climb down the far side of the building from the roof. Looking at it now, I shudder to see how high it was. ![]() |

Great picture NeilsYard. Goodness knows what year it was taken, and I haven't go a clue as to the names of the roads it shows or the imposing buildings in the background. ![]() ![]() |

It's a view from above the Cathedral spire looking north-east across Priory Street towards the junction of Ford Street and Cox Street.
