I'm no vintage car expert, but the car featured was rare, and had the “original” receipt as well. I took a screen shot as several recognisable names cropped up.

My pre war Riley has a Wilson pre -selector gearbox which drives through a centrifugal clutch. When I was looking for a car to restore I knew it had to be Coventry built . The marques I considered were Riley, Alvis, Lea Francis and Armstrong Siddeley, specifically a Typhoon, as it was the Riley was slumbering in a lock up in Barnacle, sorted
This gearbox is still available from a company called PBM Engineering in Germany.

Mick, this guy is well known to members of the Riley fraternity. He does do a good job but knows how to charge, expect to pay £8-10k. Several of the local Riley people rebuilt a gearbox 2 years ago, enough to make your hair curl.
