Who - Yes Dutchman you are right on the button, it is the monogram of the Coventry Chain Co.
Where - The 'Chain' was started by Alick S Hill in Dale St in the 1890's, and moved to purpose built premises about 1907 at Spon End.
The company offices (now the COCO) building had a fine pair of mahogany entrance doors with glass that was etched with the company monogram.
When - The doors were there in 1980 when I left due to company closure (that's when I took the photograph). They were there when it became the COCO building, But they have since vanished!
So now we are back to Where. I am sure they have been half inched, so if seen I would like to know. Does CCC stand for Coventry City Council or somesuch? adopted coventry |

We are doing some heritage work at the moment and were going to have our corridors dedicated to Coventry Chain Co and Renold Chain Co, we will have pictures and other things depicting what this building was used for. If anyone wants to be involved and give me their stories of this building I would appreciate your input.

I am afraid I do not have any stories. I know my grandfather worked there before I was born and we used to walk along the path called the Chain Gardens to my other grandfather's house in Spon End. Keep up the good work. |

And I personally look forward to hearing about it as my great grandmother and great grandfather worked here also. G.Murray |

I appreciate there is a plaque on the memorial that says the original metal plaque was found and returned to the site but I had assumed that the black memorial in situ was original but it's not on this photo? I'm sure someone will have an answer
