Hi RS TEED. I remember going in that bookies a few times in the '90s. It was known as the Shelton Square branch. It was definitely opposite one of the outside stalls of the circular market, & was accessed up a flight of concrete steps. The steps were off one of the covered ways from Shelton Square to the market, somewhere near Woolies.

Genghis Smith - YOU ARE A LEGEND!!! I have so many great memories going in there as I was still very young, full of happiness and had just got into racing. Does anyone happen to have any photographs of that area back then? If so, I can offer a small cash payment for any photographs. I'm absolutely nutty about nostalgia you see! What actually happened to that area? Did they demolish it and build Greyfriars walk there or something? I just cannot quite remember how it looked at all. Edited by member, 29th Oct 2016 12:32 pm
