Although you have the first part right the second part is not! hehe. I think the metal would be too thick and heavy for an aircraft I don't know how many other people from Coventry have such an unusual and rare item such as this?! |

Greenman Cumbria All posts by this member | 6 of 10 Thu 24th Feb 2011 4:41pm Member: Joined May 2010 Total posts:52 From the colour, I would guess that it was either a piece of angle iron (though I can't imagine why anyone would put that into a wooden mount) or going on the shearing at the top edge and around the hole, it might just be a piece of lead flashing? |

It is in fact a piece of angle iron from the roof truss of Morris Engines Courthouse Green! A German Dornier in WW2 made the hole you see in it, when they used to spray the factories with machine gun fire during the raids. It looks like aluminium because it has been platted to make it last longer. It was my father (unwittingly) who was contracted to demolish the Morris Engine factories 1982/83. In his eyes they should never have demolished the factory! They should have revamped and competed in the car market and maybe kept some manufacturing in the West Midlands!! |
