I have found a number of newspaper cuttings. 47,000 signatures signed a petition.
Schoolchildren received a badge for signing the petition. Bill Aston was a leading campaigner, he had not long built his house in Warwick Road.
Does anyone remember this?

If I remember rightly there was a miniature windmill in the front garden. His widow still lived there for many years after his death and kept a rather vicious looking Alsatian dog. |
