Lants came up on the Bond Street topic just before this bottle was found. There seems to be very limited information on Lants, so help needed please. www.bottledigging.org.uk/forum/Topic154173.aspx Just found this if you tap on picture it displays a better picture. Mods, if we cannot use please delete and thanks Anne. PS, if the link does not work first time go back and click it again. Seems to work only on second click. Edited by member, 2nd Sep 2020 4:44 pm

According to the newspaper archive, William Lant moved his business from Hertford Street to larger premises at 47 Bond Street, 1st December 1865.

I am surprised at the lack of information. All I can find is they had a depot in Northampton and were taken over by R Whites and renamed to R White Lant in 1964. Apart from Cov Archives having some receipts for mineral water bottles, that’s it. What a shame for a prominent firm in Coventry established in 1830 to go so unnoticed. The company became a subsidiary of J Lyons & Co in 1955 and acquired by R White’s in 1962. In 1950 they installed new American machinery in Bond Street. In 1962 as R White Lant they moved to new premises in Bodmin Road, Walsgrave. Edited by member, 2nd Sep 2020 6:30 pm

Going back many years when I was a nipper in Radford, I believe R White Lants had a small depot on Bennetts Rd somewhere near the Bell pub. I could be wrong, as my wife says, I usually am.

I believe that the Lant family owned and lived at Nailcote Hall?

Very likely, Mick. There is a Lant Close just off Duggins Lane. And Nailcote Hall is just round the corner. Most likely named after the Lants. Like in Long Itchington, in recent years a Chater's Orchard was built. Just over the road from the Buck and Bell, which Monty Chater ran for years.
