On 14th Feb 2021 11:04am, Helen F said: Slim, I suspect that the vaccine given is based on a person's likely under or over reaction to a vaccine.
Quite probably, Helen. I was asked a lot of questions, by the lady who gave me the jab, about my health; was I on medication, had I had allergies, did I suffer from certain things... and I truthfully answered no to all of them. The other person who went last week is quite a bit older. He's still working, so I'll ask him what questions he answered.

Same questions as my wife and I were asked. We went to the same surgery but two weeks apart and had different vaccines. Maybe the first one is whatever is available and they just have to ensure the second one is the same - or maybe they can be mixed?

Slim, we were asked the same questions in Tamworth so I think it is routine. Old Lincolnian, they said in the news last week that they were just starting to test to see if they can be mixed so I don’t think they will be doing that for a while.

Got a letter in the post, today, 16-2-21. It was from the NHS, and dated 9-2-21, informing me I could arrange to have my first covid jab, which I had on Saturday 13-2-21.

Hi Slim, I too have had a second letter, with the footnote to ignore it if I have already had my jab. How can they not know who has already been vaccinated?

It may be delays in the post. Ours is all over the place at the moment, not sure they are coming every day.

Anybody 56 and over can now book a vaccination online. You do not need to wait for a letter.

Great news. LOL. I'll admit that I've never been so cheerful about being assaulted by a sharp object. Not sure when my second jab is. I was told to wait for a call. Is it me or was the gap between the 60-65s and the 55-60s? very short?

We had our jab 5 weeks ago. No hassle, arrived at the Med Centre in Atherstone for our 11.20 & 11.25 appointments, asked what surgery we were from, straight in, jab and sitting back in the car in ten minutes. Minimal side effects, like a bit of a shiver.

You all seem to be in fine fettle after your jabs, Congratulations. After being 'jabbed' by a paper wasp last year I am ready for anything. Roll eyes

Does anyone know if there has ever been a COVID 1 to 18?

Non serious answer - yes but they were straight to TV movies. Serious answer - no but I get the impression that there could have been a covid-3 and a covid-12. They are better known as SARS and MERS but because the letters identify the location they emerged, it's considered non PC to label a disease that way now. The idea was that it would persuade countries to admit that there was a problem sooner. That did not work.

Thanks Helen, serious question again. Why did they settle on 19?

Started in 2019. The variants aren't sufficiently different to gain a new name.
