Although I'd never met her personally she was apparently a lovely person with a great sense of fun and extremely passionate about local history, especially sharing it with children. I have one of her books - a super biography of the famous and charismatic Coventry and Warwickshire historian, Mary Dormer Harris, the bulk of whose work was carried out around a century ago.
I think the world will be just a little bit duller without people like Jean in it.

It is dated 1911. The person who gave me the book had found it in the attic when they moved home. |

You were very fortunate to receive yours like that - I think I had to pay about 20 quid on eBay for my copy! |
