I can remember 2 that we have lost. The first being of course outside Fishy Moores in Pool Meadow. As a younger person than I am now, remember all the coach firms' shops (I mean sheds) - well they were wooden - on one side of the road, before the bus station, and the shops like Fishy Moores and the Bridal shop on the end on the other side. Let's see if anyone remembers where the other one was? Baz ![]() ![]() Always looking forward to looking at the past. |

Did it have a shoe repair shop on the Owen Owen side in the subway, or was that in the basement of Owen Owen? Always looking forward to looking at the past. |

The ramp shown in Midland Red's photo was also connected to the stairs that were directly opposite the entrance to Broadgate House. The other side of the road the stairs were opposite James Walkers. Hertford Street was one of the busiest streets in the city centre until they blocked it off to traffic. You took your life in your hands if you tried to cross it, other than by the subway. |
